Michael Ching

Mr. Ching, who has been the General/Artistic Director of Opera Memphis since 1992, created the orchestration for Different Fields and will conduct the production in Memphis and at the Tennesssee Bicentennial in Nashville. His compositions have been performed by the Opera companies of Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, New Orleans, and Virginia, and the Symphonies of Rochester, Atlanta, North Carolina, Virginia and Charlotte. Mr. Ching has also commissioned and/or produced new works by Tennessee songwriters Sid Selvidge, Hugh Moffatt, David Olney, Karen Pell, Tommy Goldsmith, and Tom House.

Karen Tiller

Ms. Tiller, the Co-Executive Director fo Opera Memphis, will direct Different Fields in Memphis and at the Tennessee Bicentennial. She recently directed Opera Memphis' productions of Britten's The Turn of the Screw and Kiss Me Kate. Ms Tiller has been on the artistic staffs of the Virginia and Kentucky operas. She has served as a panelist and onsite consultant for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission. In addition to Different Fields, Ms. Tiller produced the new production of The Magic Flute for the Tennessee Bicentennial.
