Gianni Schicchi is Puccini's great comic opera. Based on an incident from Dante's Inferno, this one-act opera is the last and most successful of three operas that make up Puccini's triptych, Il trittico. The story begins in medieval Florence as a group of greedy relatives call on Gianni Schicchi to fix the last will and testament of Buoso Donati. But Gianni gets the last laugh! Gianni Schicchi delivers rousing comedy as well as the unforgettable aria "O mio babbino caro".
